Where we are now
Not established by this project. Trapping does happen around Ōamaru — the tūī and korimako coming back into the town are credited to locals trapping and planting pockets of bush — but there is no record here of who traps the Cape, where, or with what.
What it becomes
Enough control, at enough density, that the birds a restored headland could hold can actually breed on it.
Why this matters
Planting without predator control grows habitat that does not get used. It is the closest thing the plan has to a precondition, which is exactly why it should not be represented by a shape somebody drew.
What needs to happen

- Agree how this project supports that work rather than duplicating it
- Record the network so it can be shown honestly
The work nobody photographs
A trap line is not a nice picture and it does not make a good headline. It is also the reason anything planted here will eventually hold birds.
