Ancient wildlife sculpture
New Zealand raven
Named in the layout and nowhere described. A cutout in a frame.
Proposed
On paper. Not yet decided.
Where we are now
A spot and a framing note, and less of both than anything else on the trail: a cutout raised from a concrete plinth on round poles and framed in box section, with dimensions that cannot all be right. There is no description of the bird at all.
What it becomes
A raven in a frame on this ground, with something written about it first.
Why this matters
It is the one subject on the trail with no description behind it. Showing that is better than filling it in: the layout names the bird and stops, and so does this panel.

In deep time
Corvus antipodum. The name is all that has been settled on, so the name is all that is said here.
